I have always been a "contrarian" on this topic. I have lived in Hong Kong for quite a while, and not to mention the living costs, I find life in Hong Kong somewhat oppressive. Even in a state of complete non-work, I still feel some pressure; when going out, it seems everyone is in a hurry. Though Hong Kong was like this before as well, it felt more vibrant. But now Hong Kong resembles a "good student" who has been educated; nothing seems wrong, yet it still feels tiring.

Of course, this might be related to my inability to speak Cantonese. Although it's all Chinese-speaking territory, I feel somewhat like I'm in a "foreign" place in Hong Kong. Teacher Wu mentioned that many people from the crypto space have moved to Hong Kong, which is indeed true. I also have friends who moved from Singapore to Hong Kong, but I still feel that the atmosphere in Singapore is better.

When I want to work independently, it is very quiet; when I want to hang out with friends, we can easily find something to do. Perhaps the best thing about Singapore is its education. For many in the crypto generation, where you live shouldn't be a big issue; there is not much difference as long as it's safe. However, for young children, I still believe it’s quite beneficial for them to be exposed to a global perspective earlier.

Yesterday, Squirrel told me he got into a fight at school. He has encountered unfriendly behavior a few times at school; this should be his first time fighting. I am quite pleased about it. A white classmate pulled down his pants, and there were many classmates cheering. He didn’t waste much time and directly punched that classmate. As a result, when they got to the office, the teacher made the white classmate who pulled his pants down apologize. I believe this will make many less likely to provoke him in the future.

Such things might happen to him when he enters society, but it may not be as physically humiliating as pulling pants down. As long as he understands how to retaliate within a reasonable limit, it is very good, rather than just going to find a teacher.

I personally believe the biggest difference between Singapore and Hong Kong is "relaxation."
