The hammer has fallen, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, but it's not over yet. On Friday, Japan will most likely also raise interest rates by 25 basis points, and given the current situation, the issues in Hormuz are affecting both the United States and Japan, not to mention Europe. So according to today's dot plot, the probability that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates again in October is quite high, and Japan might also raise rates again this year, making things possibly unsettled ahead.
However, the interest rate hike is indeed helpful for the current oil prices in the U.S. After Wash's speech, oil futures started retreating below $100. The Federal Reserve is telling Iran in its own way, if you continue to block me, I will raise rates. To put it simply, it’s like saying if you keep biting me, I will go home and continue to punish the children. Well, that's roughly what it means.
Personally, I think both the Federal Reserve and Wash have been quite hawkish today, and the market performance reflects that. When the interest rate hike of 25 basis points was just announced, the market was still rising because it met expectations, but with Wash's speech, U.S. stocks and bitcoin:native both have been adjusting downward. After all, everyone knows that in the short term, even Trump’s TACO probably can't solve the issues in Hormuz, which means that interest hikes and high rates will coexist for a long time. This is definitely not good news.
The performance of the bond market hasn't been great either. After Wash's speech, I originally thought about ambushing to buy Bitcoin at $72,000, but then I remembered that Japan has an interest rate hike on Friday. If I buy now, it would be right up to the end of Friday, so I’ll pass and wait until Japan's interest rate hike ends, and investors stabilize their emotions before making any decisions.
