A quantum-safe Bitcoin upgrade would still leave five Lightning functions exposed, according to a new research preprint. Payment privacy would need separate protection.

The researchers’ PQLN prototype addresses those gaps, but its default design used 10.2x more gossip download data in full-network sync tests. It remains experimental and does not protect the on-chain keys securing channel funds.
