Building a Cross-Border Platform for the Next Financial and Digital Era
SBW 2026 is the world’s first cross-border blockchain week, connecting the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) to accelerate innovation, investment, and technological collaboration in the Southeast Asia region. The event is supported by partners such as the Singapore Global Network - Economic Development Board, Singapore Tourism Board, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, Iskandar Regional Development Authority, and Johor authorities.
SBW 2026 will focus on the integration of emerging technologies and financial systems through the following content:
November 13 (Friday): Special Economic Zone Immersion Experience
November 14 (Saturday): Technology Empowering Sports
November 15 (Sunday): Learning Marathon
November 16 (Monday): Core Circle Meetings
November 17 (Tuesday): Institutional Summit
Commenting on this government-supported flagship event, Sebastian Zilliacus (Chairman of the Singapore Blockchain Week 2026 Advisory Committee) said, "When leaders from Visa, J.P. Morgan, Sony, SAP, United Nations Development Programme, and globally leading blockchain foundations choose to come together in the same week, it shows how far the industry has come. Our responsibility is to ensure that what comes out of this week is more than just headlines. We hope Singapore Blockchain Week becomes the place where traditional finance and emerging technologies stop speaking past each other and start building together."
CK Ong (Interim CEO of SBI Digital Markets) commented, "The issue facing tokenization is no longer whether the technology is feasible, but whether the market around the technology is viable. When regulations are clear, and distribution, custody, and commercial viability are in place, pilot projects enter production environments. Regulated participants like SBI Digital Markets are responsible for designing and distributing these products, and can truly play a role in building that market. Singapore Blockchain Week is a platform where we, regulators, and various institutions can align."
Singapore Blockchain Week is a strategic platform aimed at driving the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world assets (RWA), and venture capital (VC), placing Singapore and the broader ASEAN region at the forefront of global digital transformation.
This Southeast Asian portal aims to foster meaningful dialogue, institutional adoption, and cross-border collaboration through a week-long series of conferences, summits, roundtables, exhibitions, networking events, and ecosystem activities. These themes reflect the growing interest among institutions in blockchain-driven infrastructure and the fusion of traditional and emerging technologies.
Experiencing the Future of the Digital Economy
SBW 2026 aims to be a high-level gathering platform for leaders from the public and private sectors. These leaders will explore regulatory frameworks, investment opportunities, and technological innovations that are shaping the next generation of financial systems.
Rahul Bhargava (Senior Financial Sector Advisor at the World Bank, Interim COO of Contour Network) stated, "Supply chains cannot unlock optimal speeds or release locked working capital as long as trade finance remains tethered to paper documents and disconnected from modern settlement systems. Contour is the first blockchain-based global multilateral trade finance platform. Since 2021, Contour has been processing real commercial letters of credit digitally. We are bridging this gap and actively addressing the $2.5 trillion trade finance gap. We adopt AI-assisted operations, pre-validated according to TradeTrust by the Infocomm Media Development Authority and the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) standards, and offer flexible multi-track settlements. These capabilities are delivered via an accessible and open utility model. Contour and XDC Network are headquartered in Singapore. The Inner Circle Roundtable and Singapore Blockchain Week provide an ideal stage to examine how a unified and streamlined digital trade-to-settlement experience can help unlock supply chain speed at scale."
Kiran Mistry (Regional Head of Financial Services, Asia Pacific, Japan & China at SAP) remarked, "To truly scale the digital economy, emerging technologies like blockchain and real-world assets must seamlessly integrate with core enterprise systems. At SAP, we believe the next era of financial innovation is about interoperability. We connect decentralized finance with core enterprise systems, providing institutions with real-time treasury visibility, secure cross-border settlements, and tangible business value," while he will co-host the Inner Circle Round Table segment of Singapore Blockchain Week 2026.
Singapore Innovation Centre is the organizer of this event, boasting solid practical experience in bringing Web3 innovations into real applications, including agent commerce and ticketing, Web3-driven human layer running experiences, and stablecoin payments for goods. These initiatives showcase how blockchain transcends theory, entering tangible use cases that connect businesses, institutions, and communities.
Raymond Ngan (Managing Director responsible for the intellectual property of "Singapore Blockchain Week") commented, "This flagship event is a strategic platform. The platform connects institutions, enterprises, investors, and technology innovators. Together, all parties shape the future of the digital economy. Singapore is a regional gateway. Singapore is creating new opportunities for cross-border collaboration. We aim to elevate Singapore and Southeast Asia's position in the global digital economy. Especially as Singapore prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027."
This event is designed to strengthen the collaboration between traditional finance and emerging decentralized ecosystems through a thoughtfully curated agenda and cross-border interactions. The event also supports responsible innovation across the region.
