DeepSeek surpasses ChatGPT and tops Apple's free app download ranking in the US region

According to Caixin News Agency, the Deepseek application developed by domestic model company Hangzhou Deepseek topped the free app download rankings in Apple's China and US app stores on the 27th, surpassing ChatGPT on the US download rankings. Deepseek is a large modeling company owned by the domestic company Deepseek, which is a subsidiary of the quantization giant Magic Square Quantization. On January 20th, the company officially released its inference model DeepSeeker R1. Once launched, DeepSeeker R1 caused a sensation in the overseas developer community with its "good value for money" feature. As an open-source model, R1's performance in tasks such as mathematics, code, and natural language reasoning is comparable to the official version of OpenAI o1 model, and it adopts the MIT license, supporting free commercial use, arbitrary modification, and derivative development. At present, on the Chatbot Arena, the benchmark ranking of DeepSeek-R1 has risen to third place among all categories of big models, tied with OpenAI's latest version of ChatGPT-4o, and tied for first place with OpenAI's o1 model in the StyleCtrl category of style control models.
