According to Cointelegraph, an Argentine law firm filed a criminal lawsuit against the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on February 17th, accusing the mastermind behind the collapse of the LIBRA token and demanding an investigation into the role of Argentine President Javier Milei. On another legal battlefield, the Citizens' Alliance ARI also filed a criminal lawsuit on February 17, requesting the Department of Justice to investigate allegations of bribery and fraud allegedly pushed by President Milei, and adding that "the government cannot be both an athlete and a referee". These latest legal challenges are based on criminal charges previously filed by Argentina, accusing President Milei of participating in fraud for supporting the token. At the same time, the government has been working hard to distance the Argentine president from this scandal, claiming that President Milei was "deceived by traders who launched LIBRA out of goodwill" and that he was not aware of the financing mechanism. After the country's Fintech Chamber of Commerce acknowledged that LIBRA may be a 'rug pull', President Milei may ultimately face impeachment charges. Opposition lawmaker Leandro Santoro said, "This scandal has brought shame to us internationally, so we must make a request to impeach the president On February 17th, US President Trump posted on Truth Social, sharing a photo of Argentine President Javier Milei with the caption: "If printing money can eliminate poverty, then printing diplomas can eliminate stupidity
