The Odos protocol exploit was a very interesting hack as the ERC reference implementation was inherited which you should absolutely _not_ do here. ERC-6492 is a final ERC which can't be amended usually, but there is a real-world case now justifying an amendment of the reference implementation IMHO; I opened an issue for this: https://github.com/ethereum/ERCs/issues/877. I personally believe that ERC/EIP reference implementations should be designed to make misuse as difficult as possible.
