I'm not familiar with the mETH Protocol yet, but I can give an interesting example of a security balance design: Renzo's ezETH contract has issues with excessive permissions, such as upgradability and mint/burn, but the owner signs multiple contracts and adds a Timelocker for 7 days, and has implemented a proposal mode. If ezETH wants to commit wrongdoing and is detected in a timely manner, everyone has 7 days of buffer time to make a choice. This security balance model is very mature in the Ethereum ecosystem.
