Alibaba launches AI emotion recognition model R1 Omni

According to Bloomberg, Alibaba Group has launched an artificial intelligence model R1 Omni that can read human emotions and is available for free download, aiming to compete with OpenAI. This model is seen as a benchmark for OpenAI's GPT-4.5, which can recognize emotional cues in text but is priced high ($200 per month). R1 Omni was developed by Tongyi Lab and can infer a person's emotional state through video analysis, describe their clothing and surrounding environment, and enhance computer vision capabilities. This model is an upgraded version of the previous open-source model HumanOmni.
