What types of wallet passwords or mnemonic words can be retrieved if lost—— Follow @ imcoinseek to learn more information! Also, some friends believe that "as long as you save the mnemonic words well, it's enough, you don't need to remember the password", This holds true in most regular software wallets, but for some advanced wallets that use the BIP39 standard and have enabled password extensions (passphrase), this statement is inaccurate: 🔐 What is BIP39 Password Extension? According to the BIP39 standard, a mnemonic word for a wallet can add an "optional password" when generating seeds, also known as: • passphrase • Extended password The 25th word (some manufacturers call it that) This password is actually an important parameter involved in the derivation path calculation. In other words, the combination of mnemonic words and password determines the final generated wallet address. Different passwords result in completely different exported addresses even if the mnemonic words are the same. 🧱 Which wallets use this mechanism? The following wallets explicitly support and recommend users to set a BIP39 password: Trezor (can set "hidden wallet") • CoolWallet • SafeWallet Bitcoin Blade Wallet Partial multi signature schemes, such as Specter, Electrum, and other optional passwords; So for some wallets, just mnemonic words are not enough, you also need to remember the password that has been set. For example, wallets such as Trezor, Kushen, SafeWallet, etc. that support BIP39 password extension will encrypt and generate addresses based on mnemonic words. If you forget this password, even if the mnemonic is not lost, you cannot recover the asset. So it is necessary to save both mnemonic words and passwords, and backup them properly.
