The Dow Jones Industrial Average initially closed down about 1700 points, the S&P 500 index fell 4.8%, and the Nasdaq fell nearly 6%. Technology stocks fell sharply, with Apple (AAPL. O) dropping 9% and its market value evaporating by about $300 billion, while Amazon (AMZN. O) and Nvidia (NVDA. O) fell 8.9% and 7.8% respectively. Intel (INTC. O) rose 2% against the trend.
