Buterin pointed out that this move can increase the efficiency of zero knowledge proofs by up to 100 times while maintaining bidirectional compatibility with existing EVM contracts. This proposal aims to address the long-term scalability bottlenecks of Ethereum in terms of data availability, block production competitiveness, and ZK-EVM proof.
