I delivered the opening statement at the Retreat of Permanent Representatives of the African Union Committee of Ten on the Reform of the United Nations Security Council (C-10) held in Freetown. During Sierra Leone’s presidency of the UN Security Council in August 2024, we conducted a significant high-level debate focused on the theme “Addressing Historical Injustice and Enhancing Africa’s Effective Representation in the Security Council.” The results of this important gathering should not only act as a technical framework but also serve as a guiding political compass as we navigate the final stages of our pursuit for justice and reform.
