My final visit was to Mrs. Rosette Mukundane in Kabarole District. She stated that she had never owned one million shillings before the PDM. As a beneficiary, she invested wisely and now owns 19 goats, 2 cows, and some poultry. We have been engaged in a battle to lift people out of poverty and into the money economy. If all households involved in subsistence agriculture are fully enrolled in the money economy, it will enhance the purchasing power of all Ugandans and stimulate growth in all sectors of the economy. Many of our commodities in Uganda have insufficient markets due to the limited purchasing power of those trapped in subsistence agriculture. Therefore, I urge our people to embrace the PDM, utilise it with the right enterprises, and work their way out of poverty while also increasing their purchasing power, just like Rosette Mukundane.
