A little less than 6 years ago, I testified in Congress after announcing the Libra whitepaper. I dug up this clip of Rep Brad Sherman accusing our stablecoin project to be worse than Osama Bin Laden’s 9/11 (you have to watch it to believe it). As a proud and patriotic American by choice, I’ll never forget that moment. Today @VP @JDVance spoke at #Bitcoin2025 and endorsed the industry unequivocally, stating that @POTUS and the @WhiteHouse, with @DavidSacks leading charge on this effort, want the reinvention of our financial system to take place in America. On the Hill, the polarity has flipped as well. Yesterday many Senators and Congress members who are working tirelessly to pass solid legislation on stablecoins and market structure spoke emphatically about our need to lead the digital assets and infrastructure race as a nation. Meanwhile, I’m still pursuing the original vision of Libra at @lightspark, but only better because it’s now built on Bitcoin. Bottom line, if you believe in something, fight for it, and stay in the fight long enough to see it through. I know my story is the story of many other builders in the industry. And the 2025 edition of the Bitcoin Conference is a clear turning point for all of us. Let’s build!
