The US court has halted Trump's "Liberation Day" trade policy, and the Trump administration has submitted an appeal notice

According to a report by Jin Shi, a federal court in the United States (the United States International Trade Court) blocked President Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs from taking effect on Wednesday, ruling that Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose comprehensive tariffs on trade deficits and other grounds constitutes an act beyond his authority. The International Trade Court, headquartered in Manhattan, stated that the US Constitution grants Congress exclusive authority to manage trade with other countries, and the President's international emergency powers to protect the US economy cannot override this authority. This lawsuit, filed by the non partisan Liberty Justice Center on behalf of five American small businesses importing goods from tariff targeted countries, is the first major legal challenge to Trump's tariffs. These companies have all stated that tariffs will damage their business capabilities. This lawsuit is one of seven court challenges against Trump's tariff policies, in addition to challenges from 13 states and other small business groups in the United States. The Trump administration has filed an appeal notice after being suspended from trade measures by a federal court.
