Russian police have arrested a 26 year old suspect in the Irkutsk region on suspicion of involvement in illegal cryptocurrency mining fraud, with a total amount of 270 million rubles (approximately 3.2 million US dollars) and over 100 victims. According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspect and two accomplices lured victims into delivering ASIC mining machines and funds through a false "mine hotel" project, then sold the equipment and embezzled the funds. The police have filed criminal charges for fraud against the suspect and are currently pursuing other members of the gang while continuing to question the victims.
