On June 17, 2025, the Israeli military announced that Ali Shadmani was killed in a nighttime airstrike in Tehran. Shadmani had just taken over as Chief of the Military General Staff and Commander of the Central Headquarters, and was considered a close ally of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei. His former commander Golamali Rashid, who was also killed in previous Israeli airstrikes. It's been several days since the war started, so it's best if the military commander can't keep it going
