At the #NATOSummit I spoke briefly with Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Iwaya Takeshi. Japan is a key NATO partner in the Indo-Pacific region. In April I was in Tokyo to strengthen the ties between our countries, and today we agreed to start official negotiations on an Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA): a strategic agreement to enhance our defence cooperation. This will enable the Netherlands to work with Japan to safeguard freedom and stability in both the Indo-Pacific region and Europe.
