Edgy - The DeFi Edge 🗡️
Edgy - The DeFi Edge 🗡️|6月 30, 2025 03:39
An important lesson I learned from sports: It's not the BEST who win in the long run - it's the BEST remaining out of those who SURVIVE. You can't win if you retire early because of injuries. I'm a huge fan of the NBA. I've seen so many talented people robbed out of their Primes due to injuries such as Derrick Rose, Greg Oden, and Penny Hardaway. It's hard to say how many injuries are due to bad luck or bad training methods. It is inspiring to see how much time and energy Lebron invests into his recovery which still lets him play at a high level at 40 years old. Anyways, I've seen the framework play out in other areas. For example in Poker. I'd see super talented Poker players who never reached their potential due to horrible bankroll management. Guys would go BUSTO and be perpetually in debt. This survival first mentality is something I've applied to Crypto. Being "healthy" means prioritizing survival. It doesn't matter how good of a trader you are if you're too aggressive and end up with 0. Some small things I do: • I don't use leverage • I don't trade if my emotions are volatile (revenge trading) • I take profits even if it feels "suboptimal" • I keep a year cash in the bank at least. • My lifestyle and monthly expenses are low. • When I earn yield, I prioritize safety over squeezing as much yield as possible. That means choosing Aave. • Keep stacking BTC every month A few people have mocked me before for emphasizing risk management so much. I'm more patient than others. I've seen people put so much pressure on themselves to "make it in one cycle" that they end up with 0. Whereas they could've made made and kept so much more if they extended their time horizon. Reminds me of the quote "Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years." - Bill Gates At the end of the day, survival is the edge. Whether it’s sports, poker, or crypto...the game rewards those who stick around long enough to play the long game. You don’t need to be the flashiest or take the biggest swings. You just need to stay in the game.
