Groceries are probably one of the better places for govt/labour to be more active. Singapore’s largest grocer is actually a union cooperative with a social mission to moderate the cost of living. Pure for-profit grocers ultimately need to convince you to buy higher margin processed foods that you don’t need, and in fact inventory pressure has been the number one catalyst for processed foods adoption (stuff doesn’t go bad).
