Our young people are central to our development. As the primary drivers and consumers of technological change, they hold extraordinary potential to help us meet our development goals. That’s why it is critical that we engage them in deliberate, sustained, and meaningful ways. We believe in our young people, we are including them in shaping the decisions that will impact their future, and their participation is not symbolic, but substantive. As we talk about youth, we must also acknowledge the digital reality they live in. They are the main consumers of social media, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, tools that are reshaping how we see ourselves, our communities, and our culture. Within our own governments, we have begun to deeply reflect on the cultural transformation underway, and the risks it poses if left unexamined. This is not a call to censor or restrict, but a call for awareness and intention. If we are not careful, the essence of our Caribbean civilization, our identity and values, could slowly erode. As we invest in our youth, we must also include them in discussions on how we preserve our culture, our values, and our shared identity as Caribbean people.
