Tornado Cash collaborates with Roman Storm to apply for trial extension due to witness dispute

According to CryptoSlate, court documents on July 10th showed that lawyers for Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm stated that if a judge allows a hacker who allegedly used the platform to testify in court, they may request a brief postponement of their upcoming criminal trial. The Storm defense team has applied to the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York to exclude the unnamed witness, as the prosecution only disclosed his identity after the agreed deadline. The witness is accused of being the perpetrator of a hacker attack, using an Ethereum mixer to launder funds and conceal their whereabouts. Storm's lawyer believes that the testimony may trigger anger among jurors and unfairly affect their views on the defendant. If the court rejects the exclusion motion, they reserve the right to apply for an extension. The Storm trial is scheduled to begin on July 14th, and judges are expected to rule on witness motions by the end of this week. Jurors will be selected next Monday under the supervision of Judge Katherine Failed.
