Retail is going all-in on this market: Individual investors bought 155.3 BILLION of single stocks and ETFs in the first half of 2025, the largest semi-annual net inflows on record, according to Vanda Research. This exceeds the previous high of 152.8 billion hit in the first half of 2021, at the peak of the meme stock frenzy. As a result, average daily inflows reached ~1.3 BILLION, up 21.6% YoY. Nvidia, NVDA, Tesla, TSLA, and Palantir, PLTR, were the most actively traded stocks during this time. The average retail portfolio gained +6.2% over this period. Meanwhile, total retail trading volume hit a whopping 6.6 TRILLION, according to Nasdaq data. Retail investors have become a major force in this market.
