The US and French police departments only hold about 29000 bitcoins, far below expectations from the outside world

According to documents obtained by independent crypto journalist L0la L33tz through the Freedom of Information Act, as of March this year, the US Marshals Service only held 28988 bitcoins, approximately $3.4 billion, far below the market's commonly believed holding size. Previously, it was estimated that the overall holdings of cryptocurrency assets by the US government reached as high as $25 billion. The Trump administration has ordered the transfer of Bitcoin held by federal agencies to the Treasury Department for management and established a 'strategic Bitcoin reserve'.
