Elliptic: Cross chain crypto crimes will exceed 21.8 billion US dollars by 2025

According to a report by blockchain analysis company Elliptic, as of 2025, criminals have transferred illegal gains worth 21.8 billion US dollars through centralized exchanges, cross chain bridges, and exchange services, with approximately 12% (2.5 billion US dollars) coming from North Korean hackers. In complex cases, one-third involve three or more blockchains, and 27% span five or more chains. Elliptic warns that with the acceleration of AI and blockchain development, the market boom period may trigger more cryptocurrency fraud.
