It might be a stretch to say @saylor invented Bitcoin Treasury Companies but it’s not too far off. In 2020, as CEO of @MicroStrategy, he led the company to adopt Bitcoin as its primary treasury reserve asset, starting with a 250M purchase. Without a doubt, he single-handedly shifted how corporations view holding Bitcoin instead of cash or bonds. Since then, MicroStrategy’s amassed over 600,000 bitcoins - the largest corporate holder in the world. Considering @brian_armstrong, @coinbase, and others, flirted with doing it, the idea of a company leveraging financial instruments like debt or equity to stack Bitcoin wasn’t an entirely new concept. He may not have invented it - but he certainly mastered it. And people on Wall Street are VERY predictable. When they see one guy making billions, copycats join. I’m sure folks will say the Saylor Strategy is a massive bubble and that an eventual crash is coming. That may prove true - at some point. but, as far as copycats go, I believe we’re in the 2nd or 3rd inning of witnessing Wall Street adopt the Saylor Playbook. We’ll see.(John E Deaton)
