When PoS Was Born — And Paused: A Reflection on MemeX’s Wildest Idea Yet Over the past two days, the MemeX community witnessed one of the boldest, weirdest, and most human experiments in Web3: PoS — Proof of Shit. On the surface, it sounded insane: take a photo of your toilet business, upload it to the platform, and prove to the world (and the blockchain) that you’re a real, living, breathing human being. Absurd? Definitely. But there was something poetic in it — raw biology as a rebellion against bots, spam, and the lifelessness AI brings to social spaces. The first article from the team painted this vision beautifully. PoS was never just a joke. It was a statement: “Bots don’t shit. But you can.” In an age where fake accounts farm rewards, where AI mimics thought, and where "engagement" is often synthetic, the team dared to ask: What if the only real proof of humanity left... was 💩? It was weird. It was honest. And it was deeply meme-worthy. And honestly? Many of us got it. But today, the project team followed up with a second message — this time with humility and care: | “We recently learned we pushed the boundaries too far.” And you know what? That’s also very human. Because while the idea of PoS was rooted in authenticity, it also crossed into a space where dignity and comfort must be respected. Not every truth needs to be turned into a product. And not every meme should be a protocol — at least not in this form. So what now? To me, the PoS moment was a cultural milestone for MemeX. It reminded us what this platform stands for: ⇒ Real humans, not bots. ⇒ Real expression, not click farms. ⇒ A space where meme culture is sacred — chaotic, hilarious, but also deeply connected to who we are. The team took a big risk, and they listened when the community responded with concern. That’s leadership. And that’s why I’m staying. Not for the 💩 — but for the courage it took to propose it. For the humility it took to pause it. And for the people who are building something radically different in a world of copy-paste protocols. Let’s keep building. Let’s keep memeing. Let’s stay weird — but always human. Your thoughts? Was PoS too far, or was it a necessary rebellion against bots and fake engagement? Drop a comment. This discussion matters — and could shape what comes next.
