According to Decrypt, two men accused of kidnapping and torturing Bitcoin traders in New York were recently released on bail of $1 million each, despite facing charges of up to life imprisonment. It is reported that the judge approved the bail request considering the doubts in the witness's testimony and the inconsistent statements of both parties. The prosecutor claimed that the two individuals had subjected the victim to two weeks of violent threats and torture, attempting to force them to surrender their encrypted assets. The defense argues that the victim was not forcibly controlled. This case reflects the surge of "insider attacks" in the cryptocurrency field in recent years, and experts call for strengthening self-protection measures. Currently, the two defendants are required to wear electronic monitoring devices and submit their passports, awaiting further trial.
