Trump and Powell Face to Face Debate on Renovation Costs

According to Golden Finance, Trump and Powell had a face-to-face debate on Thursday regarding the cost of renovating the Federal Reserve headquarters. Powell stated that the president's view on the renovation cost is incorrect. The two stood together wearing construction helmets and gave a speech to the media. Trump said that the renovation cost of the Federal Reserve had jumped from $2.7 billion to $3.1 billion. Powell responded, "I am not aware of this." Trump replied, "This was just released." Powell once again questioned Trump's data source because it did not come from the Federal Reserve. Powell pointed out that the president seems to have added the cost of another building to the two currently under renovation buildings. Trump said he would dismiss a project manager who had cost overruns. Powell expects no further cost overruns, but the Federal Reserve has reserves and can handle them if needed.
