Anthropic plans to raise $3 to $5 billion at a valuation of $170 billion, led by Iconiq Capital

According to CNBC, Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup, is in talks with investors to raise $3 billion to $5 billion in a funding round led by Iconiq Capital, with a valuation of $170 billion. As a competitor of OpenAI, Anthropic's valuation has rapidly increased in the past few months. In March of this year, the company raised $3.5 billion in a funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with a valuation of $61.5 billion at the time. Although Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had previously warned about the potential national security risks of accepting investments from Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds, according to leaked memos, he is now reconsidering accepting Middle Eastern funds.
