Was it due to untimely information disclosure or a "mistake" in prioritizing the protection of user assets that led to the delisting of the Five Korean Exchanges?
On July 12th, @ PundiAI was suddenly attacked by hackers, and the ERC1967Proxy vulnerability resulted in an abnormal issuance of 1 million tokens.
The team did not immediately announce, but chose to quietly track the funds and freeze the address, ultimately recovering nearly 90% of the stolen assets, paying millions of dollars out of their own pockets, and fully compensating users for their losses.
But it was this choice that led to accusations of "untimely disclosure" by DAXA, and five major exchanges including Upbit and Bithumb notified the delisting of PUNDI tokens.
Pundi AI co-founder Danny Lim @ agintender admits that this is a dilemma: if announced immediately, it may startle the snake and accelerate the outflow of funds; If asset recovery is prioritized, the speed of public disclosure will inevitably lag behind.
This time, they chose the latter and also bore the cost.
Although the theft incident has been resolved, the impact on reputation and liquidity should not be underestimated. Pundi AI has been online on the Korean exchange since 2019, accumulating hundreds of thousands of users. Now, it has been forced to leave, dealing a heavy blow to the project.
But Danny also pointed out that this actually "unlocks the seal" - the project can use the token economy more flexibly in the future, such as repurchases, airdrops, etc., no longer limited by centralized exchange rules.
At the same time, Pundi AI has launched Data Pump: an AI data assetization platform where users can NFT datasets and generate tradable tokens, combining staking and AMM mechanisms to promote data tokenization.
Danny believes that the true value of the Web3 AI race lies in data sovereignty and privacy protection, rather than computing power distribution. The next breakthrough will come from traditional AI giants actively embracing on chain privacy solutions.
PANews had an exclusive conversation with Danny Lim @ agintender, co-founder of Pundi AI, to review the entire event process and provide security reminders for other token migration projects in the industry, as well as operational guidelines for projects listed on the Korean compliance exchange.
