Today in Latvia, during a joint statement to the local and international media with President @edgarsrinkevics at the Presidential Palace in Riga, I presented the shocking images of hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, and called on the international community to take a clear and resolute stand to urgently secure their release and that of all the hostages. Israel and Latvia share a deep friendship, rooted in history, shared values, and a commitment to building a better future. We will always remember President Rinkēvičs’s visit to Israel shortly after the October 7th massacre, and his powerful display of solidarity and moral clarity during painful days for the people of Israel. Today, we stand united in our moral demand to bring the hostages home, and in confronting shared threats, including the rise of antisemitism and the terror exported by Iran and its proxies. Now, as Latvia takes its seat on the UN Security Council, I am glad that its important voice will become even more influential.(יצחק הרצוג Isaac Herzog)
