According to the summary of opinions from the July monetary policy meeting released by the Bank of Japan on Friday, a committee member stated that if the impact of US tariffs on the economy is proven to be minimal, the Bank of Japan may end its current wait-and-see mode and restart interest rate hikes by the end of this year. Another committee member pointed out that the current policy interest rate of the Bank of Japan is 0.5%, which is lower than the level considered neutral to the economy, so the central bank must continue to raise interest rates.
