The first 16,000 per family in taxes paid to the US govt goes to nothing but interest on the national debt. The US govt has 5 trillion in revenue. Over 1.2 trillion goes just to pay interest on the 37 trillion in debt. Approx 25% of all govt revenue (taxes, fees, tariffs) is just going to interest on the national debt.(Wall Street Mav)
