Wu learned that Anza, the Solana ecosystem development company, has tweeted about introducing the new block propagation protocol Rotor in the Solana Alpenglow upgrade. Rotor adopts a single-layer repeater instead of Turbine's multi hop mode. The leader divides the block into slices, performs erasure encoding on each slice into fragments, and then sends the fragments to the selected repeater. The repeater broadcasts the fragments to all validators worldwide in one round. Due to erasure coding, the slice can be reconstructed upon receiving half of the fragments, ensuring elasticity and allowing the relay to forward a data packet as soon as it receives it.
