Meta will restructure its AI laboratory to accelerate the development of super intelligence
BlockBeats News: On August 20th, Meta is splitting its AI Super Intelligence Laboratory into four departments, focusing on research, infrastructure, and product development, as part of a broader effort to accelerate the so-called super intelligence process. Meta's Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, Alexandr Wang, stated in a memo that the Super Intelligence Lab will be divided into smaller departments focused on AI research, infrastructure, hardware, product integration, and the company's long-term super intelligence goals.
According to informed sources, it is expected that some executives will resign after the restructuring. Meta is also considering integrating third-party AI models into its products, which will change its past reliance on internal AI development.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made artificial intelligence and recent developments in super intelligence the core of Meta's long-term vision. During the company's Q2 earnings conference call, Chief Financial Officer Susan Lee stated that capital expenditures could reach $72 billion by the end of the year, primarily driven by AI related infrastructure.
