Vitalik shows off his Chinese: Was Ethereum once rejected by the Bitcoin community? Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin mentioned in a 2020 interview with '8 Questions' host Jia Xiaobie, in Chinese, that when he started creating Ethereum in 2014, many people in the community supported and were willing to participate in the project. However, the Bitcoin community held a negative attitude, calling them scammers and claiming that Bitcoin's monopoly should not be broken. This disagreement eventually led to a complete split between the Ethereum and Bitcoin communities.
