As I note at the end, the only time in recent memory that I can think of the Fed influencing an election was when Janet Yellen hiked rates in December 2015, helping to induce the manufacturing recession of 2016, which helped to flip MI/PA/WI from D to R that November.(Joe Weisenthal)
