According to a report by Jinse Finance, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that Democrats are expected to reach a consensus on restricting stock trading by members of Congress and called for new rules to be established for federal judges. Currently, related proposals are seeking bipartisan support.
Supporters claim this marks the first practical restriction on such behavior in over a decade. A copy of the text reveals that the bipartisan bill will be unveiled next week. The bill stipulates that lawmakers and their family members will have 180 days from the bill's effective date to sell their individual stocks, including those held in blind trusts. The proposal also specifies that newly elected lawmakers will have 90 days to sell their stocks after being sworn into office.
