[Hong Kong Police Uncover 'Deceptive Safe' Stablecoin Fraud Case Involving HK$3 Million in Cash, Three Arrested] According to a report by Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, Inspector Tsang Kin-wah of the Technology and Wealth Crime Unit of the Central District Police disclosed the uncovering of a 'Deceptive Safe' stablecoin fraud case. A 77-year-old woman brought HK$3 million in cash to a virtual currency exchange shop on Gilman’s Bazaar in Sheung Wan to purchase stablecoins, but was deceived by staff who used a 'fake safe' to steal the money. The Hong Kong police utilized footage from the 'Sharp Eyes Project' and, through in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, arrested three suspects (two men and one woman) within three days of the incident. They have been provisionally charged with obtaining property by deception. Authorities are currently tracing other individuals involved and the remaining stolen funds, and further arrests cannot be ruled out. (Note: 'Safe' in this context refers to the Cantonese term for a safe or strongbox. It is a secure device typically used to store valuables such as jewelry, precious metals, cash, and important documents like wills and deeds.)
