Just a quick reminder for KOL friends doing DeFi research or big players depositing funds in DeFi: I proactively reached out to a certain project, spent over 10 hours researching, communicated with them immediately after landing, talked until 3:30 AM local time, and spent another 3 hours writing a tweet that brought them 24,000 impressions. Because I genuinely want to help the community discover more niche projects and discuss them together, I agreed to post for free even though they said there would be 'very little and uncertain community contribution incentives.' I even modified the content according to their requests. Later, I found out that other bloggers were paid for collaborations, and I was the only one supporting them for free. In this industry, KOLs getting paid for collaborations is a normal and transparent business model. What angers me isn’t the money, but: • They repeatedly rushed me before posting, only to inform me afterward that the (minimal) reward would be locked for a year. • Their attitude during the collaboration was terrible—they shifted blame and humiliated me. • They completely ignored the traffic and value that had already been generated. If they had said upfront, 'There’s no reward,' I would still have posted. But they first promised a reward, then added conditions afterward, and even tried to suppress me. This isn’t a misunderstanding—it’s disrespect and deception. A KOL’s time, influence, and brand value aren’t free, nor should they be exploited or deceived. Transparency and respect are the foundations of collaboration. Behavior like this only leads to a vicious cycle in the industry. This experience taught me: goodwill and trust are valuable, but they shouldn’t be given to the wrong people. I hope fellow KOLs and investors will carefully confirm details when collaborating with or investing in projects to protect themselves. If a project can casually change collaboration terms, how can its users trust the safety of their funds?
