[The White House Pushes for Approval of xAI's Grok for Government Use]
According to a report by Techinasia, cited by Jinse Finance, emails obtained by *Wired* reveal that the White House has instructed the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to add xAI's Grok chatbot to its list of approved AI vendors.
xAI was initially excluded from the GSA's approved list as of August 2025, which included OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic.
Emails from last week indicate that GSA leadership requested the reinstatement of Grok3 and Grok4, two versions of xAI's large language models, to the procurement list. Government contractor Carahsoft also updated its contract to include xAI, and as of August 29, 2025, both Grok versions are available on the GSAAdvantage marketplace.
xAI had previously announced the launch of Grok versions for U.S. government agencies, but approval was delayed due to the chatbot generating offensive content. Currently, there is no information on xAI service pricing or government discounts.
