Reading Fengmi's tweet really hit me hard. Let me expand on it a bit—if you're an ordinary person without resources, money, or connections, it's either luck or hard work that might change your fate. But whether you can defy the odds, no one can say for sure. If hard work guaranteed success, there would probably be half as many failures in the world. Hard work doesn’t always lead to success, but without it, you’re left relying solely on luck—and luck doesn’t show up whenever you want it to, or even at all. So for ordinary people, the best option is to work hard. I started writing novels on Qidian in 2003, opened a Taobao store in 2007, began making short videos in 2010, and even drove for Didi part-time in 2014. All of these were my attempts to find ways to make money, but unfortunately, most of them failed. Even though I worked hard, I didn’t achieve big results. Looking back now, I wonder if I had stuck with some of these, maybe I would’ve had a chance. I think I had potential as a novelist. When I ran my Taobao store, I had already reached four diamonds and frequently visited Taobao’s headquarters in Hangzhou. I was the first UGC creator on 56.com, and my content was cooking-themed. Even when I drove for Didi, although I missed the golden era, it was still a time when you could make money with your eyes closed. But sadly, for various reasons, I didn’t stick with any of them. Now, in the crypto space, I’m glad I’ve stayed the course. I’m just an ordinary person who spent so many years hustling to make a living. This time, when I was in Taipei chatting with friends, I said my biggest stroke of luck was buying BTC when it was in the four-digit range, and my greatest perseverance has been not selling it to this day. We’re all ordinary people. For us, there may be no shortcuts. We have to forge ahead, cutting through obstacles—not just external challenges, but also our own self-doubt. Keep going!
