[Do Kwon's Demand for a $15 Million Luxury Apartment Deposit Rejected by Singapore Court] According to Decrypt, the Singapore High Court has ruled that Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon, who is facing criminal charges and failed to complete a property transaction, cannot recover the $15.1 million deposit he paid for a luxury apartment. Reports indicate that prior to the collapse of his crypto project, Do Kwon and his wife signed a 16-month lease in early 2022 for the penthouse duplex unit (four-bedroom) of the luxury apartment Sculptura Ardmore in Singapore. The couple paid $15.1 million (19.4 million SGD), which was approximately half of the property's purchase price, including a monthly rent of $31,150 (40,000 SGD). On May 17, 2023, Do Kwon instructed his wife to exercise the purchase option for the property, which required only an additional payment of $778 (1,000 SGD). However, this payment was ultimately not made. The purchase option and lease expired in June 2023, but Do Kwon's wife continued to reside in the property for an additional month. The developer of the luxury penthouse confiscated the $15.1 million (19.4 million SGD) deposit and accused Do Kwon's wife of breaching the contract, while also seeking one month's rent and $70,000 (90,000 SGD) in repair costs. The High Court judge dismissed the claim for repair costs but ruled that an additional month's rent must be paid. Do Kwon contested the developer's confiscation of the funds, arguing that the amount should be refunded to him. The High Court rejected Do Kwon's claim, and the property was later resold for $26.87 million (34.5 million SGD).
