According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2025 decreased by 0.4% year-on-year, with urban areas down 0.3% and rural areas down 0.6%. Food prices fell by 4.3% year-on-year, while non-food prices rose by 0.5%. Consumer goods prices dropped by 1.0%, and service prices increased by 0.6%. On average, from January to August, the CPI decreased by 0.1% compared to the same period last year.
Month-on-month, the CPI in August remained flat overall, with urban areas unchanged and rural areas up 0.1%. Food prices rose by 0.5% month-on-month, non-food prices fell by 0.1%, consumer goods prices increased by 0.1%, and service prices remained unchanged.
