How Markets Create Belief
Prediction markets are supposed to show what people think, but sometimes they end up telling people what to think.
When odds suddenly jump to 70%, it doesn’t just feel like a number, it feels like a FACT.
Media picks it up, traders repeat it, and soon everyone starts treating that number as the truth.
The market didn’t just predict reality, it built the story that shaped it.
We’ve seen this before outside of markets.
In a well-known social experiment, a single fake upvote was enough to sway later users, creating a lasting ripple effect.
Markets work the same way: one big push can snowball as others follow the signal instead of their own judgment.
Thin markets are the easiest to bend. A single whale can move the odds, and those odds move opinions.
Over time, the fake signal can grow into a real one, as more people join in just because they see others doing it.
In the end, prediction markets aren’t just measuring belief.
They can create belief, and once that belief spreads, it can rewrite reality itself.(Hanzo ㊗️)
