So the “friend” who was the only public source to claim he was a leftist, has now been retracted. Discord also said the rumor about leftist groups/messages on Discord were not true. The DSA shirt picture was proven to be not him. The DSA rally speaker was (clearly) not him and proven to be someone else. So every statement of left wing affiliation has been incorrect. But they want you to believe one *online* semester at a right wing leaning school (that even has a Mormon studies program) that was years ago “radicalized” him. Even though he then went on to spend 3 years at a blue collar trades school. Come on now! Let’s grow the hell up, and start actually addressing these issues c so we can have a safer country, rather than trying to do mental gymnastics bs. Cause the reality is, 22 year old white male Christian Mormon, at a trade school, in rural Utah, who is a gun enthusiast, wears a Trump costume and is in a MAGA family, owns a Mauser, wears a wounded veterans America flag t shirt, and calls people “gay” as an insult - is not going to be a “leftist” He grew up on a pipeline of Fox News and gun shows, was clearly mentally unwell and indoctrinated, and did something heinous. And until we can talk about that frankly and pragmatically, we will never be able to take the steps needed to health this country and make it safer in the future.
