The single greatest threat to our Republic is the wealth gap. The gap widens year after year because Congress has engaged in the greatest intergenerational theft in history by the printing of money, creating a national debt of 37 trillion dollars. The bottom 50% in this country are in debt. Student loan debt is at 1.7T. Credit card debt is at 1.2T, with delinquencies approaching 2008/2009 levels. 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and do not have 1K dollars set aside in case of an emergency. This is why some Americans will turn to socialism as a solution, especially when charismatic intelligent leader like @ZohranKMamdani argues socialism is the answer. If we don’t address get shit in order and continue down the path of endless deficits, we will witness others turn to socialism as an answer. If a person is diagnosed with cancer and a doctor says he has the cure, people listen. They want it to be true. If you can’t afford rent and groceries and a charismatic politician comes along and says, I can make life more affordable for you - people will listen.(John E Deaton)
