Rescue efforts and rubble clearing continue after the Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia — guided aerial bombs targeted civilian infrastructure, ordinary homes. Fifteen apartment buildings and ten private houses have been damaged. As of now, three people are confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones.
Donetsk, Dnipro, Sumy, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions also came under drone attacks overnight. Over 140 drones in total were launched, some of them “shaheds.” In Sumy, a bread factory, a school, and a kindergarten have been damaged. One person has been wounded. There was also destruction at a regular school in Malotaranivka, Donetsk region. Wherever necessary, our response teams are operating on the ground.
The UN General Assembly is now effectively beginning its work, with leaders gathering in New York. And it's for the fourth time in a row that Russia accompanies one of the world’s highest-level annual diplomatic events with killings. That is precisely why it is so important for this diplomatic week to be productive. Action must be taken so that murder and war do not become routine. Real, powerful pressure on Russia is needed; new joint steps from everyone in the world who believes that international law must work again. Europe, the United States, the G7 and the G20 countries — all who have real influence on Russia. Strong sanctions, strong political pressure, and accountability for Russia’s war — all of this is needed. All of this will come. I thank everyone who is helping.(Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський)
